A litle bit about myself;
My wife and I have lived in Maidenbower for 13 years and both our boys have grown up here, attending the local schools and we all love being part of the great community. I first started attending Choi Kwang Do over 8 years ago and have loved it ever since. Originally I was looking for something more challenging than just using the machines at the gym and having done some Karate many years ago, thought I would try Choi. It wasn't long before my son also started to come along too and many years later he is a Black Belt 1st Dan and I have recently achieved my 2nd Dan. I love how Choi keeps me both fit and challenged and that there is always something new to learn.
I am really excited to be opening a Children's Martial arts school in Maidenbower this April. Having been learning Choi Kwang Do for many years I am now looking forward to sharing some of my knowledge and helping kids from the Maidenbower and Crawley area learn an excellent form of martial arts. At Peak Performance Choi Kwang Do - PPCKD there is a real ethos of making classes fun as well as covering the more technical side of patterns and drills and this is one of the reasons why classes have proved to be so popular at the Horley school.
The plan is to initially start with classes on a Monday and Friday night for the younger ages up to 10 and then to split them into Lil dragons for the under 7's and Bigger Dragons for the 7 to 10 year olds, if there is demand then we will start the older classes as soon as possible.
I get a real buzz from seeing the smiles on their faces, hopefully mixed with a little perspiration, at the end of the session knowing that they have had fun but also learnt some really useful skills such as coordination, balance, discipline and some self defence. I have lots of ideas and fun games to bring along to the Maidenbower classes and can't wait to get started teaching Choi to all ages.
It is well known that the benefits for children taking up martial arts are immense, not just physically but mentally too. We aim to teach discipline, respect and self control by maintaining traditional values whilst having fun and stretching the students. Our aim is to help them grow up into well rounded adults with the confidence and ability to defend themselves should the need ever arise.
Having lived in Maidenbower Crawley for many years I am really proud to be able to offer Choi Kwang Do martial arts classes to boys and girls in the area. Whether they are looking to become a Black Belt in the future or you just want them to keep fit and build confidence then I truly believe that PPCKD in Maidenbower is the club to join and I look forward to welcoming you soon.
